Summary:
The first article I chose, started off stating that not all students lean the
same way, but have different methods of learning. It goes on stating that as
teachers, the main things they need to do is realize that there is different
leaning process that can get the students to improve their learning. Because
there are so many learning styles, teachers tend to be broad when teaching
a lesson, hoping that all the students will get a grasp of what is being taught.
The article states because teachers use this method, it may not be as
effective as knowing and accommodating to individual learning techniques.
The majority of teachers also believe that the way that subjects are taught
inside the classroom should be taught the same way in online classes.
The article states that there isnt much research on the different
learning styles when taking an online class. However, it does state that
between learning styles and student achievement outcome there drop outs,
completion rates, and different attitudes about learning. On the other hand,
online courses may be better for some students. The article describes
students who are successful doing online classes as somebody who requires
greater reliance on independent learning skills and students who have less
need for concrete experience in leaning. People who look for more concrete
experience seek more peer interaction which means that on-campus courses
would most likely suit them better.
