1. Identify one to five goals that you believe the school (in the future) should accomplish for
each child?
In a future high school one major goal for me is to create educated voters because we cannot
have a successful democracy in America without an educated population voting. Its also
important for high school students to leave high school with a sense of self-purpose knowing
what they like to do, how to act as a decent human, and just an idea of what they want to do or
to be in the future. Another very important factor to leave high school with is the knowledge of
how to live after high school including, financial knowledge, how to get a job, and how to
manage bills.
2. For each of the goals you have listed, identify the life experiences that schools should
provide to students so they may reach that goal. For instance, good citizenship might be
curriculum.
A real life experience students could participate in to help with government and voting
knowledge would be to require government classes but also to host a mock election and teach
students how to look for correct information to vote. One way to help students find who they are
would be to give them opportunities and clubs they can join. Having all sorts of activities and
clubs could help students discover what they like, who they are and where they fit in in society.
The easiest way again to provide financial information is to give them mock experiences,
practice taxes and have students map out a fake life. This could be done through classes more
3. Describe an activity that you would want to include as part of your school of the future.
For examples, what community service project could you design into the curriculum that
In my school of the future I would like to have a silver cord program to encourage students to
get involved and do volunteer work throughout the community. One thing about this is an
administrator would also have to provide opportunities for students to volunteer. When
completing a certain number of hours students will get a silver cord to wear at graduation.
