12.1 Reforms You Have Known

1. What have been the most effective reform efforts in the school in the past five years?

Effective reforms in my high school have been detentions, grade drops, and suspensions. With

detentions when students have to come in on their own time to make something up usually they

get the memo to shape up or fix their behavior. Grade drops usually affect students more

because that is something that is harder to change and is a permanent thing. Suspensions get

parents involved which can also help students get their acts together.

2. Which of those off the previous list are expected to still be in place five years from now?

I truly believe all of those will still be in place in the next five years because they work in high

schools and are in almost every high school everywhere. There also isnt much that can be

done for high school students because not much affects them.

3. What makes some reforms succeed and other fail?

The fact that many high school students just dont care and have a dont care attitude about

everything does not help much of anything. If a punishment or reform does not have enough

impact it could cause it to fail whereas if it affects the student in a negative way changing the

behavior it could succeed.
