Brief Description of Learning Experience: As you address the standards, what will students and teachers do? How will
the project be introduced? How long will it take to complete? What audience will use/care about the multimedia projects
students are creating? How broad is this audience? How will student work be assessed and by whom? Who will provide
feedback to students about their work? (Overview should be a minimum of 2 paragraphs)
The activity will be introduced to represent the possibilities of incorporating mathematics into music. The students will create
their own original beat for their math rap. Each person will be assigned a topic from the years standards and create a poem/rap
about the content and vocabulary associated. The teacher will assist when needed, but the students will be in control of their
assignment.
The written portion will be graded for included content and associated terms. Another portion of grading will be focused on the
final product for creativity, quality, and the connectivity to their assigned topic. Once the recordings are complete, they will be
accessible on the teachers blog as a study tool for the students.
Student Engagement/Higher-Order Thinking: What LoTi level would this lesson be and Why?
Students will be meeting approximately a 5 LoTi level while completing the audio activity.
The students will be using multiple technology tools to complete the activity. Examples of these are, online multimedia tools,
recording software, and processing software.
Importance of technology: Why is using a multimedia authoring tools critical to the project? Could the project be
completed without this technology? What would be lost without using it? What other types of technology, if any, are
going to be used in the learning experience?
Many students struggle with presenting in front of a class, which would be required if this activity was completed without the use
of multimedia authoring tools. By allowing students to record their project, it eliminates the public presentation factor. The
teacher could still play the recordings publicly at the approval of the student and their parental partners.
Inspiration (optional): If you used existing multimedia projects as a model for your project (whether in part or whole),
include the URL(s) so we can visit. Explain what concepts you borrowed from others.

Internet Safety and Student Privacy: Briefly discuss some possible issues surrounding internet safety and student
privacy that could arise while implementing this learning experience and explain how youd minimize risks to
students/yourself, alleviate any fears by parents/administrators, and follow school districts Internet Safety/Use Policy.
Every tool used in this activity are easily accessible for students without requiring personal information of the students. All
recordings will be limited to the student and the teacher, unless otherwise authorized by the student and their parental partners.
Other comments about your proposed student multimedia authoring activity: There is a high accessibility for the
tools used in this activity.
