Hampton Vs.

North Carolina A&T Game Preview

Its October, the wind is brewing, theres autumn leaves on the

grass, and theres Hampton Pirates Football. But in reality, the

weather will be awful due to the incoming hurricane Joaquin.

The Pirates (2-2) will host the Aggies (2-1) at Armstrong Stadium.

The Aggies offensive attack is fueled through junior running back Tarik

Cohen, the MEAC preseason offensive player of the year. The Aggies

offense is averaging a little less than 150 ypg (yards per game) on the

ground. But good news is Hampton is the second best team in the

MEAC against the run, with their defense allowing on average 151 ypg

on the ground. The bad news is the defense is allowing on average

151 ypg on the ground. We need to force them to throw the ball

and there will be many looks when we load the box with defenders to

stuff the run said Hampton Coach Cornell Maynor.

The Pirates are coming off a loss to their rival Norfolk Spartans.

A game, which there was questionable, calls by the refs, and question

decision making quarterback David Watford.

The Pirates are putting up 1532 yards of total offense and 28.5

ppg. RS Junior WR Twarn Mixon is off to a solid start to the season with

20 receptions for 364 yards and 5 touchdowns so far this year.

The Aggies strength is their defense. Coach Maynor made sure

to point out their counterpart has multiple ball hawks roaming in their

secondary. The Aggies defense is holding opponents under 23 ppg.

The only game where they were outmatched was the game against

UNC. Against Shaw and Elon the defense only surrendered 7 points in

each game.

It will be a great showdown in Armstrong Stadium this Saturday,

wear your ponchos, and hats, and bring your umbrellas because its

football time in Hampton Virginia.
