Six Basic Punctuation Rules for Writing Dialog

1. First, a comma must be used after the introductory clause or word

in every sentence.
2. Secondly, a comma must be placed between two independent

clauses in each sentence before the coordinating conjunction.


3. Next, always use a comma in order to divide the items in a lists of

either three or more.


4. Also, commas should be used with quotations as well.
5. Then, a comma is even used in cases involving appositives.
6. Lastly, commas are especially used when there are any kind of dates

involved.

Sentence Boundaries

Never use a comma splice which is when two complete sentences are

joined by a comma, but without any coordinating conjunction.


Also, do not write any run-on sentences which are two or more

sentences that are joined together without the use of any

punctuation.
In conclusion, no use of fragments or parts of sentences in other

words the subject or verb is left out of the sentence making it

incomplete and not make sense.
