The Surgical Lobby volunteers and clinical nurse liaison are here to assist you in any way that you need. Feel free to approach them with any questions or concerns. Our goal is to keep you informed on the progress of your patient's procedure and any delays that may occur. PLEASE NOTE: © Please keep the beeper visible at all times. The beepers have a limited range, which includes the Terrace Café, ‘the lower level gift shop and outside to the flag pole. « Any time the beeper lights and vibrates, please come to the desk as quickly as possible. «© Keep the beeper until your patient has been assigned room number, ether in Outpatient Recovery or on a patient floor. Once an inpatient is assigned a room number, you will be given the nurse liaison’s phone number on a card, the patient's room number and instructions to proceed to the room to wait for your patient. Complimentary coffee and tea are available from 6:30 am. to 3:30 p.m., Monday — Friday. f you would lke to get something to eat while the patient is in surgery, the Terrace Café is located on the Lower Level. Take the stairs located outside the Surgical Lobby or the North Tower elevators * Due to our concer for the privacy of your patient's health information, there are three consuttation rooms that some physicians prefer to use when discussing the surgery. If you must leave the hospital, notify our staff and leave your beeper here along with an emergency contact number. If you are not available when the surgeon comes to speak with you, see the nurse liaison for a report. The surgeon may not be available to speak with you later. Patient Tracking Screen The patient tracking screen provides information that will help you locate your loved one throughout the surgical process. To view your family member’s information: 1. Find the surgeon's name on the tracking screen. Names are displayed in alphabetical order. 2. Find the Patient ID Number that is provided on the front of this card. (This number is the last five digits of the HAR number on the screen) 3. The remaining five columns indicate the time the patient enters the Procedure Room, the time the patient exits the Procedure Room, inpatient room number (if applicable), the patient's location throughout the surgical process and when the family can see their patient in Stepdown. Patient care takes priority over ‘time entry’ in the patient record. Therefore, you may not see an immediate change when the patient moves from one location to another. Patient Location Definitions: INPATIENT ROOM #: Patient's inpatient room, assignment. OR (OPERATING ROOM): ***Note — a time will appear in this column once the OR nurse begins the electronic documentation, PREOP: Area where the patient is prepared for surgery. PERIOP: Patient has arrived, but is not yet in PreOp. REC (RECOVERY): Phase | Recovery Room. ‘SD (STEP DOWN): Phase II Outpatient Recovery Area. FAMILY TO STEP DOWN: The icon below will appear when the family is requested to the phase !! outpatient recovery area
