ABSTRACT

"A descriptive study with cross sectional survey approach was undertaken
to assess the knowledge level of postal mothers regarding newborn care
in selected Civil Hospital in Sonipat

55 postnatal mothers were selected by purposive sampling technique


from them by using structured interview schedule. Demographic
characteristics revel that 67% of postnatal mothers were in the age group
of 18-24 year. Majority of mothers (52.7%) were primigravida, 91% of
postnatal mothers were housewives, 34.5% were in the incomer group of
Rs. 3001-500, 53% of mothers belongs to joints family, 78.2% of mothers
were Hindu, 30.9% of the postnatal mothers had secondary education,
69.1% of the postnatal mothers source of health information's were health
care workers, 50.9% of postnatal mothers had good knowledge newborn
care.

Finding of postnatal regarding newborn care show that majority of


postnatal mothers 50.9% had good knowledge regarding newborn care,
40% had average knowledge and 9.1% of postnatal mothers had poor
knowledge regarding newborn care.
