3/22/16 It is with great pleasure that | write this letter of recommendation for Ms. Tricia Kelley. Ms. Kelley joined our staff in 2015 as a first grade teacher. | have had the opportunity to work closely with her as the Curriculum Coach for our school and as her assigned mentor. | feel that Ms. Kelley possesses many qualities that would make her a valuable asset to any school staff. Ms, Kelley has an obvious love for teaching. She always has a smile for her students in the morning and kind words for them before they leave each day. She puts great effort into planning her lessons and this effort is seen through the innovative and engaging activities you see the students participating in on a daily basis in her classroom. She uses a warm and caring approach in the classroom and this leads to a great rapport between student and teacher. Her classroom very much has a “family feel” to it. She sets high expectations for her students and they strive to reach them. Ms. Kelley builds strong relationships with her parents, colleagues, and other staff members. She has open communication with her parents through her webpage, email, newsletters, classroom events, and parent conferences. She encourages parents to be a part of her classroom. Ms. Kelley also works to develop relationships with school staff. She is always wiling to share her thoughts and ideas at PLC(Professional Learning Community) meetings. She works closely with her teacher assistant to utilize her in a way to help meet the needs of her students. Ms. Kelley is very reflective in her teaching. She use the multiple student data resources available to her to guide both her whole group and small group instruction. She truly believes every child can be successful and actively seeks strategies and input to make this happen in her classroom. ‘Again, | am confident that Ms. Kelley will be an asset to any staff that she works with. She is confident, knowledgeable, and has the skills of a seasoned teacher even though she is relatively new to the profession. | feel that she will continue to grow in her craft and her effectiveness as a teacher will continue to grow as well.
