Hello future delegate!

Congratulations on taking your first step in ensuring a better future for yourself. The
Girls Empowerment Movement (GEM) 2017 team is incredibly excited to welcome you
to Sheridan College - Davis Campus on May 6th, 2017 for The Proactivity Project. Please
review this DELEGATE PACKAGE for information regarding our organization, a brief
schedule of the conference, and other important details. A GEM team member will also
follow up with several emails to keep you informed about our event upon registration.

The Proactivity Project has been supported by a variety of community partners across
Peel including United Way of Peel Region and Rapport Youth and Family Services. This is
the third year that GEM is hosting an annual conference and we hope to make it better
each year!

ABOUT US

Girls Empowerment Movement

Girls Empowerment Movement (GEM) is a
youth led organization based in Peel Region.
Our goal is to increase the confidence of our
youth through opportunities that encourage
leadership, mentorship, and empowerment.
We focus on subjects regarding personal
development, feminism, leadership and
career planning through the facilitation of
workshops and conferences of no cost. We believe that by creating a positive and
inclusive environment we can foster growth and a sense of community, which we hope
inspires youth to be agents of change.

The Proactivity Project

The Proactivity Project is a one-day, free of
cost conference for youth ages 14 and up.
The conference will provide you with the
opportunity to enhance your financial
literacy skills as well as broaden your
knowledge regarding gender and its
construction. We guarantee that your
participation in our conference will be worthwhile as the information you will gain is
useful for any and all of your future endeavours. During the conference, there will be
segments in which a representative from TD Canada Trust and a special guest will come
in to speak.
ARRIVAL

When
Doors will open at 10am on Saturday, May 6th. Upon arrival, a GEM staff member will
sign you in and here you will receive the Proactivity Folder, which will include all
materials that you will need for the conference, which will officially begin at 10:30am.
Refreshments will be provided.

Where
The Proactivity Project will be hosted at Sheridan College, Davis Campus, located in
Brampton (7899 McLaughlin Rd). Upon entering, there will be signs guiding you to DAV
H131, which is location of our conference. If you need assistance at any point, there will
be GEM team members who you may ask for help.

As a delegate at the Proactivity Project, you will be provided with all materials that you
will need for the conference.
