The new 7 wonders of the world

The Inca citadel of Machu Picchu was chosen as the fourth of the New 7 Wonders
of the Modern World to embody "the spirit of community and dedication" in an
impressive ceremony held at the La Luz stadium in Lisbon, Portugal.

Received strong support from the Peruvian government and local authorities, who
hope to increase the number of visitors.

The proclamation of the New Seven Wonders took place in the framework of a
multitudinous spectacle in the largest stadium in Portugal. Official delegations from
all five continents participated.

The ceremony was broadcast to more than 170 countries, with an estimated
audience of 1.6 billion viewers.

Attracts by its impressive constructions raised in the heart of the Andes and also
because almost a century after the American Hiram Bingham made known its
existence in 1911, has not yet been able to unravel all its mysteries.
