The survey

Sample:

- 30 Pupils

- Mix gender

- Class 6 Arif (the first class among four classes in year 6)

- All Malay

- School situated in Ipoh (city).

- Majority stay in a Malay community housing area.

- Family background: Some come from rich family. Mostly come from middle
income family.

- Pupils archive between A and B in their Bahasa Malaysia and English Language
Examination.

- Half of the survey participant attends tuition (English) after school.

Instrument :

- The survey form (language background scale and the linguistic minorities
survey form)

- Reading text (Malay/English). Had been used in linguistic minorities survey.

Data gathering :

- create a survey form.

- ask pupils volunteer themselves to take the survey.

- take 30 minutes for the survey.

- distribute the survey form.

- Read the instruction / Explain about the survey.

- Show short story (Malay/English) to the pupils (linguistic minorities survey)

- Pupils answer the survey.

- collect the survey form.

-Count the respondent answers for each part of the survey.


- analyse the data.
