Activity Name: The energy game (Hands of power)
Source: http://www.icebreakers.ws/small-group/energy-game-hands-power.html
Equipment: None
Number of participants: Any

Activity Description
1. Participants form a circle
2. The instructor chooses a participant to begin.
3. The first person begins by making a sound while doing a motion. (e.g. Laugh
while shrugging shoulders or clap while humming)
4. The person to the right does the same motion and sound, however, the sound must
be louder and the motion has to be exaggerated. As each person goes, they must
give more energy than the previous person.
5. This continues until it gets back to person who began. This person must do the
sound and motion with more energy than everyone.
6. Then, another participant will begin a new round with a sound and motion.
Leadership Considerations
1. This activity can be adapted for individuals of all abilities. For example, if there is
a participant who is an amputee and cannot do one of the motions, the participant
could still participate by doing the sounds.
2. This activity requires more energy as it progresses to the next person; therefore, it
may be difficult for cancer patients to provide a great amount of energy if they are
not feeling well. These participants could be chosen to start the game off because
the first individual is not required to give a lot of energy.
