Diabetes is a very prominent disease in my family. Mostly running on my

mothers side it is very common. There is no way to cure type 1 diabetes but there is a

way to help prevent type 2. The best way to prevent type 2 diabetes is to keep you

blood sugar low and have a healthy well balanced diet. Losing weight and staying fit is

also a big key. Fiber can also help prevent this. High fiber diets already have low sugar

in them and help regulate the body. Going whole grain is also a huge thing with dia-

betes. It is not fully proven why whole grains help so much but they suggest making half

of your daily grains whole.

I learned that there are many ways to help regulate type 2 diabetes. If you keep a

healthy diet and can keep a close track of your blood sugar you should be in the clear. If

type 1 diabetes runs in your family there is nothing you can really do with this being

hereditary disorder.
