One aspect of King's rhetorical situation when writing "Letter from Birmingham Jail" is

his purpose. I think that his purpose is one of the most important aspects of his writing.
Throughout the letter he makes it clear that the reason why he is writing the letter is
because he believes it is time for changes to be put into action. I think he is successful
in doing this when he gets emotional with his speech. For an example, in paragraph
14, I felt the most impacted when he talked about all the colored children and how they
are growing up with hatred towards them and hatred towards white people. It shows the
audience how discrimination is impacting all of society including all of the young and
action needs to be taken, so future generations do not have to grow up so unjustified
and unequally. MLK's purpose makes his writing more influential and made him an
important historical writer.
