For my activism project, I decided to focus on teacher pay and how I believe that it

should be raised. For this project, I want to discuss the two ways the government/state
are trying to increase teacher pay. I want to be able to show which one I think works the
best for our society. I plan on discussing Merit pay and the other route of increasing all
teacher pay by a little percentage. I believe that this is an important topic to research
because it allows me to understand the different sides of this issue and it most
definitely is an issue that I will face as a future teacher. I hope to mainly focus on North
Carolina and how they plan on doing their teacher pay raises. At the end of this project,
I hope to be able to understand what I think is best for the teachers.
