Jeff Lingard serving as a student teacher has been a great experience for my classroom. He brought a lot
of enthusiasm, motivating ideas, and experiences, with him when he came from IUS. From his first lesson plan,
Jeff handled himself in a very professional manner. A lot of his success stems from his background he had
before coming to Jeff High. Being in the work force and having an acting career, has given him an edge in the
classroom. Jeff is at the top of his class when being in front of the room and this kept the students highly
engaged.
His classes at Jeffersonville High School included two Biology I classes, two Psychology, and one
double block of AP Environmental science. Jeffs knowledge level, interest in science, and unique sense of
humor were great for the classroom. Yesterday as he was talking about this being one of his last days in the
classroom, several of the students were mentioning how much they would miss having him in class.
A couple of other areas that were unique to point out as I observed Jeff in the classroom were:
1) Jeffs outside knowledge of the subjects is excellent. In our Environmental Science class we run the
greenhouse and he was an excellent help. In his past he had worked at a nursery and brought a level of expertise
in getting the plants in the greenhouse a great start.
2) His skills in front of the classroom have been outstanding. From his booming voice, quick jokes, and
his ability to move around the room have giving him an excellent foundation to lead the class.
3) Jeff didnt just go through the motions each day at Jeff High. It was very important to him to make
sure he connects with each child. A lot of people are great at working a room and Jeff does a great job of
working the classroom. He is constantly moving around to help and talk to each student.
Jeff has the potential to be a great educator. I feel he would be an asset to any school he decides to teach
at next year. I highly recommend Jeff Lingard.
