Vision Statement

Grades 6-12 Social Studies

A learning environment that is comfortable and safe will be provided to

students.
Students will be given the opportunity to address issues that they feel

are interfering with a safe and comfortable learning environment.


Expectations for appropriate classroom behavior will be provided by

the teacher and students will be expected to abide by these

expectations.
Everyone is expected to treat others with respect and maintain a

cordial attitude.
A classroom environment will be developed in which students are free

to discuss appropriate topics but expected to abstain from

inappropriate conversations in the classroom.


Opportunities will be provided for student engagement during learning

and all students will be given the opportunity to share their thoughts

and opinions.
In order to accommodate the rapidly changing world of educational

technology, students will be given opportunities to use technology


during various classroom assignments and encouraged to use

technological resources to conduct research for daily work.


Expectations for daily assignments and assessments will be clearly

communicated to students in advance.


A variety of different instruction methods will be used in order to

provide students with a variety of learning experiences.


Promote collaboration between students by allowing opportunities for

students to share ideas and work together.


Encourage students to develop stronger reading skills by consistently

assigning literary content aligned with standards and content being

covered in the classroom.


Help students to develop an interest in the content facilitating

activities that take students beyond the textbook or lecture.


Facilitate opportunities for students to make connections between

historical content and present- day issues.


Promote learning beyond the classroom by providing students with

information that will assist them with future endeavors and help for
them prepare for future educational experiences.
