Math 1030 Signature Assignment

As it pertains to my future career, I have chosen to select the

Voting Theory Project to demonstrate the skills I have developed and the

concepts I have learned throughout this semester. I plan to work as a

political and legal analyst in the Middle East for the State Department.

This region has been plagued with political instability with waves of

authoritarian regimes and recent calls for more power to the people,

such as the Arab Spring starting in 2011. Though there is much work

that remains to bring freedom to the people and stability to the nations

of the area, it is possible. As the United States works with countries in

the region through diplomacy, it will be necessary to ensure that any

elections are fair and truly reflect the voice of the people. This project

dealt strictly with the United States Republican primary election in

2016, however, the principles of voting theory are universal. This will be

a valuable skill that I will be able to use as we monitor and ensure

legitimacy of national elections in the Middle East, leading to an ability

to negotiate and facilitate long term political stability for the region.
