IEP Meeting (ARD) Attendance/Interview

1) Who attended the ARD and what is each members purpose at the ARD? (identify by

role only, not by name)

-The assistant principal keeps the meeting organized and running; the diagnostician

gives testing results; the SPED teacher gives a progress update; the general education

teacher also gives a progress update.

2) Who appeared to be the ARD facilitator or coordinator?

-The assistant principal

3) What was the purpose of the ARD (Admission, Review, or Dismissal)?

-The purpose is to update paperwork and services as well as make changes to the

childs IEP, as needed.

4) What kind of information (assessment, instructional, behavioral, etc.) was shared by

each committee member?

-Each committee member shares a progress update on the child.

5) Particularly, what appeared to be the general educator's role and responsibility as a

committee member?

-The general educators role is to give a progress update on the child and to voice

his/her opinion on the services being provided for/being discussed for the child.

6) How were educational goals and objectives determined? How were accommodations

and modifications determined?


-Goals, objectives, accommodations, and modifications are determined by

understanding what will help the child to be successful. These are also determined by

comparing the childs accuracy to a general education students accuracy and looking at

the data of the students current accomplishments and where the child is headed.

7) How did the committee arrive at decisions concerning the student's least restrictive

environment (LRE)?

-Decisions are made upon agreement. Each person involved in the meeting is expected

to state helpful and beneficial facts/information on the childs progress.

8) As a general educator, what would you need to do to prepare to participate in an ARD

meeting? What do you feel is necessary for you to be the most effective ARD team

member possible?

-The general educator is expected to be prepared for ARD meetings by printing grades,

CBAs, any evaluations/data, and being prepared with guided reading level information.

The general education teacher is expected to collect this data as needed and be

cooperative and supportive of the childs learning success.
