Video Self-Evaluation Paper Instructions

This exercise is to increase your:

skills of observation,
abilities to articulate your speech evaluations,
and gain insight for your own speaking style.

Watch the video of your speech several times. Look for specific elements that worked and
those that need improvement. Be specific and give examples. Connect the specifics with
how they may have affected the audience.

Use these headings in your paper.

Appearance ( clothes, hair, accessories, posture)

Organizational Pattern (introduction, preview, conclusion, signposts,
transitions, support material, flow, word choice)
Vocal Qualities (pitch, pause, fillers, projection, variation)
Delivery (gestures, body movement, eye contact)
Visual Aid (design, way it was used)
Audience Connection (pathos, ethos, logos)
Strengths (mannerisms, style)
Areas to Improve (plans for areas you would like to work on for your next
speech)

Reflection Questions: Write a few paragraphs answering the following questions.

1. How does this assignment illustrate the growth/change/progress you have made in this
class?

2. How can you apply what youve learned in this class to other classes, to the workplace and to
other areas of your life? Please be sincere. You dont need to over-inflate your claims.
