Nowadays only an educated person is acceptable in the society and after completi
ng school a student attends university to prepare itself for the challenges of l
ife. However, it is becoming popular these days to have a year off between finis
hing school and attending university. There is an ongoing debate as some people
believe that it is necessary to take a year off while others argue that this is
a waste of time. This essay will discuss both the pros and cons of taking a year
gap.
Taking a year gap have many positive impacts. One of the most important is that
a person can earn money to support himself with all the expenditures of the high
er studies. One can also use this time for traveling different places in order t
o increase his knowledge about the diverse communities and areas of the world th
at can also help in higher education. For an instance, if a person is planning t
o study humanities in university then a year off can help him in knowing about d
ifferent cultures and traditions of the world.
However, taking a gap year also have some ill effects on the student as most of
the students waste this time in doing useless things and sometimes he/she may ge
t himself in trouble by doing any illegal act as his mind is free of any kind of
responsibility. It also diverts the focus of mind from studies. When a person c
omes out of the school he is in touch with the study but when he takes a year of
f he lost his focus.
In conclusion, This essay has discussed the pros and cons of gap year and in my
opinion, a year off is only beneficial when a person use that time productively
instead of wasting it in doing useless stuff. 300 words
