Reflection
(Minn of 3-4 sentnces pr question)1. Briefly describe the field experience. What did you learn about technology coaching and technology leadership from
‘completing this field experience?
I worked with the faculty and staff to demonstrate how to set up and organize their eClass page. I leamed that
there are many different levels of technology prowess. It was important to pay attention to both the less
knowledgeable learners as well as be able to challenge the tech savvy teachers. It was challenging to make sure
that everyone got something out of the experience and that they felt successful upon leaving the training.
2. How did this learning relate to the knowledge (what must you know), skills (what must you be able to do) and dispositions
(attitudes, beliefs, enthusiasm) required of a technology facilitator or technology leader? (Refer to the standards you selected
above. Use the language of the PSC standards in your answer and reflect on all 3—knowledge, skills, and dispositions.)
Knowledge ~ What I have leamed this semester is that it is important to establish relationships first to be able to
train them effectively. It is important to know their strengths and weaknesses before training, so they know they
are understood and supported. Teachers, like students, learn differently and at different paces. It is important
to be able to give the teachers different training materials based on their individual needs.
Skills - I have to acquire all the skills with the technology tools to facilitate training. It is important that I know
the ins and outs of the presentation to troubleshoot during the session. I need to convey the ease of use of the
technology so that the teachers and staff do not feel overwhelmed with the process. I need to think about
questions they may have at the beginning to anticipate questions or problems during the presentation.
Dispositions — It is most important to display enthusiasm when presenting. The faculty and staff will feed off
my enthusiasm. I need to take the time to listen to their needs and questions and assess them throughout the
presentation. If Iam not excited and enthused about the training, then I cannot expect them to be.
3. Describe how this field experience impacted school improvement, faculty development or student
learning at your school. How can the impact be assessed?
The faculty development training was quite successful. It was great to meet with small groups of teachers to
show them how to set up their D2L to facilitate learning. The teachers and staff were enthusiastic and engaged
throughout the training. It was interesting to see their reactions and to hear them state that itis not as hard as
they thought. Not everyone came to the training as it was not required from my administration. However, the
word got out and the drive and enthusiasm is alive and well as more and more teachers now want training to
learn more of what they can do with eClass.

training.
