Iterative solution of Poisson and Schrodinger

Equation

November 7, 2015

We begin by assuming a uniform density of dark matter particles and use

it to find the potential that these particles now source by solving the Poissons
equation.

2 V (r) = 4Gm0 (1)

Solving this equation we get that V (r) r2 . Using this potential, we solve
for the corresponding in the schrodingers equation

h2 2
+ V (r) = E (2)
2m
r 2
2
The ground state wave function is a gaussian and so e r0
. We then use
the relation between and

(r) = 2 (r) (3)

and further use this to obtain a new V(r)

2 V (r) = 4Gm (4)

Now we again plug back this V(r) into Schrodingers equation to get the
corresponding wavefunction. The idea is to find V(r) and (r) which we finally
obtain from the above equations by solving them iteratively. While solving these
equations, we use the following boundary conditions 0 (0) = 0, (r = ) = 0,
V 0 (0) = 0 and V () = 0
The iterations need to take place twice, once for finding the ground state wave
function and energy and the subsequent iteration would be in updating the V(r)
based on this new wave function thus obtained.
