PSY 1010

My Reflection of Significant Learning in Psychology 1010

Psychology 1010 has taught me a lot through the semester. It has taught me to
be more engaged and think critically about the behaviors of my peers and people
around me. Specifically regarding lesson teaching about why people behave the way
they do, sometimes without them even knowing. It put in perspective my own and others
actions and encouraged me to questions group thinking.

Critical and creative thinking, and skeptical inquiry contribute to my development

of civic literacy and the capacity to be a community-engaged learner who act in mutually
beneficial ways with community partners by being accepting and inquisitive of political,
historical, or economical aspects of society. It allows me to be more engaged with my
community and connected to my peers.

This can become practical by applying concepts of memory and brain

functionality to situations and allowing them to better help and understand peoples
behavior and motives. One of Salt Lake Community Colleges learning outcomes is
students communicate effectively, the teachings from this class about memory and
memory perception apply to this by allowing us to communicate effectively and
empathetically, and remember and understand events that affect us and those around
us. The brain and memory obviously have a huge role in remembering information for
classes and school work, by using effective studying techniques we can take advantage
of the brain for better grasp of concepts taught. The brain also has a basic, but
important, role in understanding and processing auditory, visual and oral information,
which without learning would be impossible.
