Insert after seventh paragraph

As the previous presidency saw innovation in renewable energy and energy policy, the

now conservative government plans on stripping away the government programs responsible.

According to Taylor Teppers news article, Trump Wants to Kill These 17 Federal Agencies

and Programs, the program cuts come as the first step to mitigate our climbing debt of $20

trillion. Although trump aims to beef up military spending, which represents the lions share

of federal spending, he plans on cutting five programs crucial to the protection of our

environment. The programs on the chopping block include the Environment and Natural

Resources Division of the Justice Department, the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate

Change, the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, the Office of Fossil Energy,

and the Office of Electricity Deliverability and Energy Reliability. These programs, described

as Liberal Darlings, are responsible for strengthening and maintaining environmental

policies toward private businesses. (Tepper, time.com). Although the Trump administration

seeks economic growth, this political action will result negatively for private business, the

bulk of our economy. In Michael Berry and Dennis Rondinellis journal, Proactive corporate

environmental management: A new industrial revolution, they stress the direct correlation

between business performance and environmental quality. The article states, there is

growing evidence that firms that adopt proactive environmental management strategies

become more efficient and competitive. If the programs designed to regulate emissions are

destroyed, we will see this negatively affect our economy through worsening air quality,

detrimental to our health and agricultural economic sector (Berry and Rondinelli, 38-50).
