Evaluative Statement
I chose to showcase the first assignment we wrote in Honors 1000 because I am not the

greatest writer but I did externally well for this being my first honors essay. The assignment was

to explain Who Are We?, the way we did this was to write a story being told as we were

immigrating to the United States. I had to write about the hardships immigrants went through but

in the prospective of my character. The assignment also required that I reflected on my

characters choices and how this related to the time period we studied in this class. I thought this

was a very good way of relating course material for students to understand. I also found that it

was a really fun paper to write it let us be creative but in a historically actuate way. I know that

when I was writing this that I was turning it in for an honors professor was going to be grading it

and that I would have high expectations to stand up to this most definitely helped me develop as

a learner and on a professional level because I know that when I leave college I will have high

expectations from my bosses and that I will need to meet them and the honors college and

writing the assignment will help me by starting it early in my college education. I really wanted

to include this paper in my portfolio because it shows how I am learning as a writer and a student

by using new concepts I have learned but also by using better grammar then I have in the past so

this shows not only how much I have learned as an honor student but also as a student learning

though out her college experience. This assignment is just a stepping stone in my goals to

achieve over the next few years in college, I hope to gain as much knowledge as possible even if

its not in my field of study so I can use may people perspectives when I go on in life.
