Lesson Rationale: This lesson intended to show students how to solve


Overview/Rationale addition and subtraction math problems by using the techniques
(using finger, using calculator, drawing pictures, and number line).
Overview: Operations and Algebraic Thinking
Understanding of addition by using numbers to add together and
subtraction by using numbers to take away from each other.

Framework/Standard Standard 1: Represent adding and subtracting by using fingers,
drawing pictures, using number line, number chart, and calculator or
any other method to help.

Learning Objectives Students will be able to demonstrate addition and


subtraction using fingers and drawing pictures.
Student will apply skills using calculator and number chart
Student will write an equation for each picture they are given.

Technology Uses Teacher use:


Computer; to use the PowerPoint, the internet, and to print the
worksheets out.
PowerPoint; to show the lesson, steps how to solve addition and
subtraction problems, and examples.
Internet; to get the worksheets for the students
Printer; to print the worksheets out for the students
White dry erase board; to go over the examples with the students.

their own to do the practice problems on.

Procedure Students will listen to the teacher teach the lesson about adding and
subtracting on the overhead.
Teacher will show the students examples and solve them with the

Teacher will give the students a worksheet called Domino Addition

Teacher will go over the first three questions with students with the
white board.
Students will ask the teacher any questions about the worksheet.
Student will work in groups at their table on the
worksheet and ask the teacher for help if its needed.
