Project 2 Reflection:
Growing up I was in the foster care system, so this gave me an experience with the
Department of Children and Families that many dont get to have. I was fortunate because I was
put in the care of another family member and I was still with my sisters. The DCF worker that
visited my house frequently reminded me of this one day because she explained to me that she
has to actually schedule sibling visits with some kids because they dont get to see them. They
already dont have parents or family that is willing to take them, and on top of that they arent
with their siblings. This made me interested in adoption, and its a topic that I think should be
discussed more. This is why I decided to do my research paper on adoption. I acted as if I was a
couple that couldnt have children and decided to look into adoption. I talked about the research
that they found and the pros and cons that come with adoption. When I wrote this I was usually
in the library in the evening or at night. I struggled with how to make it interesting, which is why
I added the fiction couple into the paper to make it more personal. I did not struggle with
conducting the research because the topic is so interesting to me that I could read about it for
hours. I believe I could expand on the fictional story more, but the research itself was very in
depth. This project can help me in the future because I plan to adopt a child, so I will already
know what to expect
