Describe the skills or attributes you believe are necessary to be an outstanding teacher.

Commitment to students and dedication to learning are the attributes I believe are
necessary to be an outstanding teacher. You can teach anyone theory or best
practices, but you cannot teach someone to be committed to each student that
enters the classroom ready, or not, to learn, and to be dedicated to fostering an
environment that supports learning for all students including yourself. Being a
life-long learner is what motivated me to pursue education, so it is my hope to
ignite that same passion in my students.

What instructional techniques do you plan to use in your teaching?

Career and technical education lends itself to student-centered learning with

hands-on activities rich with technology. Through classroom instruction,
supervised experience, and lab-based supplemental activities, I will be able to
provide a foundation for premier leadership, personal growth, and career success
with my teaching. I am there to support my students and their learning by
whatever means is necessary for them to succeed and am ready to employ a
variety of instructional techniques to accomplish this aim.

What will you do to ensure your students learn?

Evidence of student learning ultimately falls in my lap. It is crucial that I accept

responsibility for the educational outcome of each of my students. By establishing
a culture of learning and developing an air of respect and rapport, students will
be much more willing and able to effectively learn. It is my hope that students will
hold me accountable for teaching them the information they desire in the way that
best supports their learning and, in turn, I will hold each of my students
accountable for communicating that information with me and ensuring they meet
the goals they have set for themselves. It will also be crucial that my students view
me as a champion for their needs to further develop the student-teacher bond that
will promote learning.
