The article by Yao, Wanjun, et al.

, addresses various factors related to

economic growth that have resulted from the significant changes seen

in Chinas population growth. In the later half twentieth century, China

has experienced population growth compared to the early years of the

century when. One Child Policy was extremely observed and hence

resulting to a decline in the countrys population growth. According to

the article, the views that relate to economic growth with respect to

Chinas population are both optimistic and pessimistic. On the negative

side, Chinas GDP has lowered because of the increase of its population

and this has contributed in negatively affected the standards of living

(Yao-4654). On the positive side, the countrys population increase will

continue in assisting in the labor sector considering there is a high

percentage of aging individuals in the country. These conclusions,

which Yao, Wanjun, et al., discuss in An Empirical Analysis of the

Relationship between Economic Development and Population Growth in

China, add weight to the argument increase in population in China

means that there will be economic growth because the high number of

people will definitely make more purchases for their daily basic needs

but there are also challenges of population growth such as rise in

criminal activities, shortage of basic supplies and resources such as

land, and increase in levels of poverty and pollution.
