Teacher led: Teacher will model how to take
away, add to, put together, and take apart with word problems involving numbers.
Students Led: Student will complete use
bean bags to represent whole numbers. Students will use bean bags to model word problems I will display on the board. They will use the take away and adding to method. I will then have them write it in number form on a small white board.
Closure: Discuss any confusion or
misunderstanding they may have from the lesson. I will have them do a ticket out of the class activity to assess if they understand what they have learned.
Homework (if applicable): They will be given
3 word problems that involve taking away, adding to, and comparing.
