America joined World War 1 not only because of the attack of the ship Lusitania, but because there

were

several attacks on ships with american civilians on board. First the lusitania sunk on may 7th 1915, the

german government said they will be more careful, but on august 19th, the ship arabic sunl, attacked by

german u-boats. March 24, the french cruise boat Sussex was attacked, a few americans on board who

died. So i think that could be one of the reasons america come into the war, but also that america wanted

peace in europe. So he tried to talk to the different allies to find a way out of war. "Unter dem Eindruck

der misslungenen Verdun-Offensive war die Bereitschaft gefhrlich gewachsen, , la baisse' zu

spekulieren und alles auf die eine noch ungeprfte Karte des uneingeschrnkten U-Boot-Krieges zu

setzen", schreibt Fiebig-von-Hase. That means that germany is starting the war again, this time against

america too, hoping that the U-boats are going to win the war for Germany. But even after this wilson

didnt wanted to fight, he saw no reason and he wanted to wait. That was when the Zimmermann note

was caught by the british, which said that "dass Mexiko in Texas, Neu-Mexiko, Arizona frher verlorenes

Gebiet zurckerobert", meaning if mexico declares war on america, germany promises them to get back

their old territories. All of those things led, in my opinion, to the entrance of America into World War 1, but

there were a few factors and not only one that led president Wilson decided to fight.
