What are PLCs?
o J. Macdonald (department chair) will discuss using
powerpoint and recap her training at the PLC institute.
Discuss Goals of PLCs
o Torry Temple, Science department chair, created videos
about PLCs, recapping what he learned at the PLC
institute and making it relevant to our teachers at SJHS
Create PLCs within our department by subject matter (Econ,
Government, World History, US History, AP)
Discuss norms we would like to see in our World History PLC
to ensure efficiency and positive teamwork
Distribute copies of Content Standards and CCSS standards
Assign each teacher to review both sets of standards and
choose standards he/she believes is essential to know to be
successful in future lessons, including following years. We
will call these essential standards

Next Meeting: Bring essential standards with you to discuss and

collaborate on a final list of essential standards in your PLC
