Comparative Essay

Throughout my four years in high school i often spent time thinking about

graduation and where i would attend after my senior year is over.. This year i have gave a

lot of thought and consideration about two schools that i would possibly be attending in

the fall of 2017. The two schools are Cal State Northridge and Pasadena City College. As

i was building my college plan by finding things such as modes of transportation,

distance from my home to these schools, tuition, and places near me along with the

majors/degrees both these schools had to offer, i came to the conclusion that Cal State

Northridge would be my best option. I know that this is the right school for me because it

is a school that is good in their science department since I want to major in biology along

with it being a school that is diverse and close to home if anything happens as well.

As I looked at the distance from Northridge and how far it is from my home i

realized that when i end up going there for the fall i would have to dorm. The cost of

attendance for Northridge when dorming there is approximately $20,000. I looked

through all the aspects such as books, classes, along with board and food and estimated

the costs and came to the conclusion that i will be able to dorm for my first year with the

help of both my mom and dad and the financial aid I will be receiving. Another thing i

took into consideration when i was looking at Northridge were the places that were

around and it has many food places and markets i can go to. Along with this school

having resources close by in case of any emergencies it would be a great option. When i
was comparing Northridge to Pasadena i also saw that this four year university would be

my best bet because i can go straight into focusing on my bachelors degree instead of

waiting at a community college to transfer for two or more years. When also taking into

consideration forms of transportation when I attend Northridge I can get around the area

by bus and I'll be visiting my parents every other weekend. When going to college one

must think about all the changes that will come there way such as meeting new people or

leaving home but with this college plan I have established this confidence that everything

will go smoothly my first year of college which will take place in the fall this year.
