Terms of Reference

Title : Prevention form alcoholism and tobacco

Background
Navithanvely DS division in the Ampara district having population of 18375 (comprising
Srilankan Tamils and Srilankan Moors) as per the estimation in the year 2007. The total population
consists 49.5 and 50.5 % of males and females, respectively. The selected areas for implementing
this project were Navithanvely 01, Chavalakadai, Sorikalmunai 02, Chalambankerni 05, Central
camp 02 and 11th colony. From the beginning the people of these areas day by day addicted for
various alcoholism and tobacco without any knowledge of affects of this habits’. The people have
reason for why they have been addicted for these habits. Even though this habit are creates
problems and psychical and mental diseases. Most of the family’s income is wasting due to these
bad habits.

The Objective of the Project

The proposed project aimed to minimising or stops from alcoholism and tobacco of people of
World Vision Lanka Area Development Program – Navithanvely DS Division.

Consultant team
The proposed consultant team comprises of the following experts

Dr. P. Judy Ramesh Jeyakumar, (Psychiatrist, Mental health unit, Base hospital Kalmunai.) and
his resource term.

Target groups
Whole households in the areas of Navithanvely-01, Chavalakadai, Sorikalmunai-02,
Chalambankerni-05, Central camp-02 and 11th colony

Expectations of the organization in this Project:

1. Addicted people of alcoholism and tobacco have to be realising their hobbits.

2. The entire community member has to be gain knowledge of the alcoholic problem and its
affects.

3. Most affected people of alcoholism and tobacco has to be identified and recover form this
habits.

4. Through the intervention, the target groups will be highly motivated to reduce of these
habits.

5. The target groups families gets a good status within the community

The roles and responsibilities of the resource team will be as follows.

 1. An awareness program will be conducted among the woman in all the six villages.
2. An awareness program will be conducted among the youth and children in all the six
villages.
3. An awareness program will be conducted among the men in all the six villages.
4. Identifying the affected people of the alcoholism and tobacco.
5. The training program will be conduct among the addicted people of alcoholism and tobacco.
6. The resource term will be design a hand outs for prevention form alcoholism and tobacco.
7. Every month three or four program will be conducted for addicted people of alcoholism
and tobacco.

Budget for this project.

For Awareness program -4500/=. (One doctor and three resource person)

For the regular training program for addicted people- 3500/= (One doctor and two resource person)
