Child Development 17 Music and Movement ‘Wednesday April 5,2000 Group Activity Plan Participants: Marisol Farias, Aracely (Chelly) Ramirez, Raul Gutierrez. ‘Theme: Days of the Week, Activity: "Monday Through Sunday With The Angels" (By Chelly) Curriculum Area: Music and Movement~ Rfiythm Instruments Objectives: As a result of this activity, children will develop; © A sense of self in a group. © Auditory discrimination. © Listening skill. © Enhance memory skills {remembering the days of the week). . + Develop an appreciation for music. Have fun! Size of group: 5 children. Age of children: 4 - 6 years old. Materials needed: Riythm instruments © Bells, rhythm sticks, triangle, maracas, and drums. © Laminated wings (different colors). © Basket for instruments. © Book," Busy Monday Morning" by Janina Domanska. Advanced Preparation: © Make instruments and laminate wings. © Learn song "Monday through Sunday with the Angels" © Have instruments in order of which they will be presented. © Practice telling the “Busy Monday Morning Story”. Procedr : Invite children to join you in circle time. ‘Welcome children to circle time. Let children know a fittle about what you'll be talking about. Ask questions {what day is it today? How many days are there in a week? Can everyone name the days of the week?) © Goover te days of the week together. Read a Gook about the days of the week {"Busy Monday Morning" by Jamina Domanska}. © Ask.them questions as you read the book {what day do you think is coming up next?). © After you are done with the book, tell the children that you are going to learn a song about the days of the week with the help of some angels and instruments. © Hand out instruments and wings with halo to children, Tell them it's oRay to play with the instruments. © When each child has their instruments and their wings on, ask them to place their instruments in front of them. © xplain to the children the order of the instruments. (i.e. If you are Monday ring your bell etc.) © Go over the song with them once then sing together again. © After you have sung the song, thank the children for their participation. Transition Activity: © Ask each child to place thei collecting them. © Tell the children "when I let you go back to your seats you can write a story or draw a picture about the days of the week’. © Ask,"who ever has blue wings on please hand them quietly to me and fly back. to your seats".
