2. How does your media represent particular social groups?
The characters used in this
sequence are minimal, as there are only two main characters, the Runner and the Agent. Both of these characters are represented as teenagers, and this is because I wanted this production to appeal more towards a younger audience.
The character shown here is the
Runner, the protagonist of the production. To help portray the fact that he is the protagonist, I chose to dress the runner in lighter clothes and try and expose more light by filming him in lighter places to introduce him into the sequence. The lighter clothes and setting connote the fact that the Runner is a good character and is trying to help the people in this sequence instead of oppress them, which is the role of the Agent and his back story, which is shown by me filming him in fairly light conditions as I didnt have a way of blocking out the sun, but the Agent (the Antagonist) is dressed in darker clothes to connote his dark and mischievous intentions towards the Runner.
I feel that these two representations relate a lot to a
teenage lifestyle, and this is because a lot of teenagers act the way the characters in this sequence do. A lot of characters are passive, like the protagonist, always moving towards a peaceful lifestyle, avoiding trouble where they can, and others unfortunately look for confrontation and violence, such as the role of the Agent.
