Default Settings

Default is the term for standard configuration. It is the settings that are Setup by the
manufacturers of the Software.
Some of these settings include:
Paper size
Page length
Language
Paper Orientation
Margins
Tab stops
Line spacing
Font Size & Style

Margins
Margins refer to the space remaining at the top, bottom, left and right of the paper when
typing a document. If the margins are too small, then they will be outside the printable
area of the paper.

Paper
BEFORE you start to type any document, you must decide on
(a) Paper size,
(b) Paper orientation,
(c) Margins

These are determined or chosen based on:

(a) The type and length of the document. E.g. Legal Size paper for Legal Documents
Wills, Leases, Etc. and A4 paper for a Letter.
(b) Fonts and format of document (the alignment of the Text)

Paper Size
Paper size refers to the measurement of the paper.
E.g. A4, A5, Letter Size, Legal Size etc.

Paper Orientation
Paper orientation refers to the positioning of the paper.

Layout
Layout refers to the arrangement of text on a page with regard to insertion of headers and
footers and the alignment of text.

To perform the Page Setup for a document, Go to File, Then Page Setup.
