This year on January 20, 2017, Donald J. Trump had his inauguration, becoming the 45th
president of the United States. His speech shows where this country needs improvement and how
we are going to change Americas reputation. He also addressed how he will transfer the power
from Washington D.C and the very few who controlled power to the people. In this address he
also discussed foreign affairs along with many other issues. In this Inaugural address, Donald J.
Trump is speaking to the millions of Americans who inhabit this nation and unite them as may
Americans are split among party lines as there are various issues in this country as we speak, in
the same tone, he addresses the people that change is coming as well as the power of government
being given back to the people while showcasing his care for the people and the logic behind his
Trumps speech revolves around showing a change in power from the government, to the
consent of the governed. Trump makes this known when in his speech he says Today's
ceremony, however, has very special meaning because today we are not merely transferring
power from one Administration to another, or from one party to another, but we are transferring
power from Washington, D.C. and giving it back to you, the people. For too long, a small group
in our nation's capital has reaped the rewards of government while the people have borne the
cost. In this speech he discusses how dangerous it can be to let a small group of the government
control the government. Stating this in the way he does he shows tremendous amounts of

compassion which showcases Pathos to the people. He states that the government is meant to be
based on the people, not the few politicians in government who have controlled it for the last 8
years. He supports his claim and tells the people to not worry about what party is in office as
long as the government belongs to the people. Trump also says that too many women and
children suffer from poverty in inner cities due partially to most of the factories in the inner cities
being run down or no longer in use. Another reason for the poverty that seems to be inescapable
is that the education system today has is enriched with cash but yet still deprives most of the
Another thing President Trump promises all Americans is a brand new look into what is
wrong with this country and why it should be fixed. He states that he is going to put America
first and stop letting other countries get rich by our actions by unifying and attacking world
issues as one nation. In this general idea President Trump is displaying logos. President Trump
also says that while we have been spending trillions of dollars overseas and building up others
economy and infrastructure, ours has been depleting here in our own country. He adds on to this
preliminary thought by saying We've made other countries rich while the wealth, strength, and
confidence of our country has dissipated over the horizon. One by one, the factories shuttered
and left our shores with not even a thought about the millions and millions of American workers
that were left behind. The wealth of our middle class has been ripped from their homes and then
redistributed all across the world . Mr. Trump also speaks to the effect of buying American
goods and hiring American workers and not foreigners. He vows to reduce the unemployment
rate as well as getting Americans off of welfare and back into the workforce so this countrys
economy can remain among the elite in the world. He also emphasizes to get out of most foreign
affairs that we should not be involved in and let our democracy and our great nation shine as an

example to the rest of the world. Trump lets everyone know that when Americans come
together for the greater good, this nation can virtually be unstoppable. In this speech a key point
is brought to attention. This key issue is how many of our great companies are leaving this
country and placing their factories elsewhere throughout the world due to an insane tax being
placed on them from the previous administration. The presidents plan to keep these countries
here in this nation is to cut taxes so that our economy will flourish with more business instead of
facing a deficit due to the companys leaving for cheaper cost and labor.
One of the Presidents main campaign promises is to secure the nations borders, stop
illegal immigration, and to make America safe. By saying this he means that America needs to
stop helping other countries defend their borders and building up their armies, and finally start
building up our own army so that we have the capability to defend and stop any forms of terror
upon this country. In this same argument Trump has made a promise to the American people. In
his promise he vows to build a wall across the southern border of the United States. The
President avoids the topic of constructing a wall; however he insinuates his previous promise by
saying Weve defended other nations borders while refusing to defend our own, and spent
trillions and trillions of dollars overseas while America's infrastructure has fallen into disrepair
and decay.
In this inaugural address, Mr. Trump is trying to convey the message that the time has
come for a new government; A Government in which the people control the policies and are
properly represented on how we run our country. He is also advocating to millions of Americans
that we should not divide and continue to battle, rather than uniting as one to insure that America
