Admittedly,

when deciding on taking this course I was under the impression

that it was going to be an in-depth exploration of severe and hazardous weather and

its effects on people. However, understanding the very structures and detailed

components of each type of storm relating to severe weather was awe inspiring,

even more so than originally expected.

This course has shown me a connection to my major that I didnt believe

would be possible, but it seems that regardless of the course a similarity will always

be present. Taking this course has truly opened my eyes to the devastation and

preparation one must take when encountering severe weather, it has also showed

that with some general observation, simple surface measurements, professional

sources available to the public and knowledge of severe weather conditions and

forecasting I may take heed of severe weather patterns near me. In addition to

amateur forecasting this course has also revealed the undeniable facts of climate

change and the affects it is already having on our planet, this has made me more

conscious of how much waste and unnecessary emissions I produce daily; already

helping me implement changes in my life.

My main focus in Finance as a career is to help people personally who have

had first hand experience with a catastrophe but now that I am more educated on

situations I might have otherwise given no notice, I may have a better

understanding of the issues facing the people I may help.
