MACHINING Operations - Turning and drilling

AIM: To machine a closed die for powder metallurgy part.

MATERIAL REQUIRED: - Mild Steel round rod 2580 mm- 2 pieces
- Mild steel round rod 25 x 50 mm, 1 pieces

TOOLS REQUIRED: Steel Rule, Marking knife, Vernier calipers, Tool post spanner,
Chuck Key, Parting tool.

OPERATION REQUIRED: 1. Job setting 2. Facing

5. Stepping 6. Edge cutting
7. Resetting 8. Facing
9. Drilling 10. Inspection

PROCEDURE:

1. Take a Mild steel round 2580 mm long piece and set it in the chuck with
require length with help of chuck key.
2. Mark the job as per given measurements with the help of steel rule and calipers.
3. Do the steps and edges cutting with help of side cutting tool,
4. Repeat the procedure 1 to 4 for mild steel round 25 x 50 mm.
5. Go to drilling process, and make 10 mm of diameter for mild steel 25 x 80.
6. Do the free and plane operations and finish the job as per given sketch.
