Name - Elena Freda Project Start Date January 27, 2017

Title of Project - Human Trafficking Project Completion Date - April 20, 2017

1. In 40 words or more describe who your project benefited and how. In other words, what was the impact
of your project?
I held my project at the adventure park which is connected to the aquarium. At my project people had the
ability to do a two hour rope course climb and learn as much as they wanted to about human trafficking
and how they can help.

2. In at least 40 words explain how the project challenged you. How was this a stretch for you?

My project topic, human trafficking, was very close to my heart because I believe it to be a very big issue
in Virginia and many people dont take it serious enough. This project definitely challenged me because it
forced me to interact with people on another level and get me out of my comfort zone.

3. List and then describe 5-8 fundamental ideas/concepts/skills of your project, which you
learned/enhanced during your project. Please use a table format as shown in the example below.
advertising- putting together flyers and posting them everywhere I could and personally contacting
everyone I know that might want to help out in some way.
time management- this was a big part of my project because I had to make sure everything was ready in
time before my project.
event planning- I had to put on an entire fundraiser together and hold it from 2:30-9 but I think it will help
me in the future if I have to something else like this again.
Contacting and meeting with others- I had to go talk about my project with people when I was trying to
get donations and this helped me with speaking with strangers.
Failure- When my proposal got denied three times in the beginning of the year and then when my venue
canceled on me. I learned that you cant freak out but you just have to figure out another plan.

4. List and describe 4-8 problems/obstacles/issues you encountered in your project, and briefly describe how
you solved each.
My first problem that I came across was that my proposal paper got denied three times.
The next problem I faced was not finding venue.
Then once I found a venue and they told me I could hold my event there, they decided not to let me have
it there one month before my project. I didn't know what to do so I went down to the place and presented
to the marketing team why they should let me have my project there and then they decided to let me have
it there.
Another obstacle was on the day of my project, my car decided to break down and not start but my mom
was able to pick me up along with everything else in my car such as tables, chairs, posterboard, etc.
5. List materials used.

table
chairs
flyers
posters
candy

6. List all people who helped you on the project and briefly describe the help given.

Helen Merjos- drove me to my project when my car broke down

Zak Catera- took pictures of my event
Bill Mozingo- gave me a table to use for project
Lisa Mullins- gave me chairs to use for my project

7. How does your completed project compare to the picture you had in mind when you started the project?
Explain the reason behind any changes from your proposal.
Well my first proposal got denied three times so I had to completely think if a new idea. Once I
thought of what I wanted to do I had to get started right away. When everything was finally in place it
went pretty much the way I wanted it to. The only thing that I changed in my final proposal was the
where the money was going to be donated to. Instead of the A21 Campaign, I decided to donate all
the money I raised from my project the Virginia Beach Justice Initiative, which is an organization
solely to ending human trafficking in the Hampton Roads area. My project revolved a lot around
human trafficking in Virginia so I wanted to donate the money to an organization that would help
Virginia and not just globally.

8. If given the opportunity, explain what you would have done differently now that you speak from
experience?
To be completely honestly I don't think I would change a thing about my entire project experience.
Everything that had happened to me while writing my paper and preparing for my project was meant to
be. It did cause me a lot of stress but I think it was all worth it because it allowed me to deal with
situations that I never thought I would ever have to face.

9. Beyond the project itself, what did you learn about yourself?
I learned how to handle stressful situations and learn that it is okay to have break down every now and
then but don't dwell on the situation, cry and move on. I also learned to take no as another way to
challenge myself.

10. What grade would you give yourself on the project? Justify the evaluation of your grade in at least 25
words.

Grade: 95
Justification: I gave myself a 95 because a lot of people showed and I raised 5,417 dollars for the
Virginia Beach Justice Initiative.
