Assignment 4 Reflection

After assignment number three, I believe that I completely grasped the

concept of American identity and leading into assignment number four, this

gave me the ability to break down what the reasoning of these people trying

to come into the country illegally, and made sense of why they do not do it

legally. The purpose of this assignment is to assess the past assignment

three and explain what side of the argument I agreed with and why I agreed

with this side. I also gave multiple ways that this problem of a faulty

immigration process can be fixed and how it would affect our country as a

whole. The fact of the matter is that the process that we use to legally

migrate these people into our country is unrealistic and can only be achieved

by a select few people wanting to go through this process. I always wanted

to know why we have so many illegal immigratns, and by understanding the

meaning of American identity for these people it gave me the answer to that

question. I really liked the assignments three and four because it gave me a

chance to choose which topic I am writing about. Usually I am used to my

teacher or professor telling me specifically what I should write about and how

long it should be and what it should consist of. What I liked so much about

these assignments is that because I was able to choose what I was writing
about myself, I was able to get more involved and excited about my paper

which I think really helped me grow as a writer.
