Icouldntsleepthenightbefore.Iwasjusttooexcited.Thiswasmyfirst
timeonacampingtrip.Ihadpackedmybackpack3daysago.Therewasa
listofthingsthatwererequiredfromeveryonesuchassleepingbags,
torchlight,matches,MarsEnergyBarsandnotforgettingmosquito
repellants.

Around8amthefollowingday,wearrivedinourschoolbusatthefoothills
ofGunungLedangwhichisfamousforitsmanymythsandalsobeautiful
campingspots.Therewere20ofus.Wewereallinourschoolscoutsteam
accompaniedbytwoteachersandourguide,anOrangAslimancalled
Adun.Firstwewenttoregisterourselvesattherangersofficebefore
startingourhike.

Itwasawonderful,coolmorning.Adunpointedouttousvarioustypesof
ediblewildplantsandtoldusto'respectthejungle'bynotlitteringor
thinkingbadthoughts.2hourslaterwereachedawaterfall.Itwasaperfect
spottosetupourtents.Bythetimewefinishedsettingupthetents,itwas
lunchtime.Adunshowedushowtogatherfirewoodandlitupafire.He
madeamakeshiftstandoverthefireandhungapotoficywaterfromthe
waterfalltoboil.Whilewaitingtocookrice,ourteacherssaidwecouldall
goforaquickswiminthewaterfall.Wehadsomuchfuntogether!Aftera
simpleofriceandsardines,werestedforawhile.Intheevening,our
teacherstookusexploringaroundtheareaandgathermorefirewood
beforenightfall.

Atnight,afterdinner,welitabigfireandsataroundit.Ourteacherstalked
aboutjunglesurvivaltipsandlaterweplayedgames.ThenAduntoldusa
fewmysticalstoriesaboutGunungLedang.Somewerescaryandafewof
uskeptlookingbehindourbacksatthedarkjungle.By10pmourteachers
askedustogotosleep.Someofuscouldntsleepsoendedupchatting
quietlyinourtentstillweehoursofthemorning.Wewenthomethenext
morning,tiredbuthappy.
