Barret, Brian. How That Lexus Hoverboard Actually Works. Wired. Gear. 06 June 2015.

Medium. 11 April 2017.

This article discusses how Lexus introduced a short teaser video for their new prototype

hoverboard called, SLIDE. A hoverboard that appears to not just live up to our Back to

the Future II dreams but, at least stylistically, improve on them. Better its more science

than science fiction (Barret). I found this claim by just using the Google search engine.

I searched for, sci-fi films hoverboards v. hoverboards now and found Barrets article

after looking through my results. It has been peer-reviewed by other bloggers within the

Wired community and comes from a respected blogging website. I knew it was both

academic and trustworthy from the moment I read this editorial column thoroughly

multiple times. This will be useful for my essay because of the crucial evidence Barret

has put out for his readers, including YouTube video clips about Quantum Levitation,

that ties to how the Lexus hoverboard relies on magnets and superconductors, which I

will cite as my supporting claim. I will then link this to our interpretation of hoverboards

of today, and how in our society there has already been many reports of explosions and

other cases caused by these transportation riders.

Hollister, Sean. Buying a self-balancing scooter? You might want to think twice. Here are

the reasons why so many hoverboards are catching fire. CNet. 9 July 2016. Medium. 11

Apr. 2017.

The following article describes about how purchasing these hoverboards and its uses can

pay an ultimate price for those consumers. According to the US Consumer Product

Safety Commission, there have been 12 incidents in the United States where the lithium

ion batteries in these boards reportedly caught fire as of December 2015 (Hollister). I

found this claim using the Google search engine, hoverboards exploding. It is a peer-

reviewed article from a valued website, so I knew that it was both academic and

trustworthy for my essay as one of my sources. The statistics and other evidence

presented in the exposition shows the dangers of the aftermath from purchasing a

hoverboard due to overcharging and other causes. This kind of piece is useful for my

essay because this side of hoverboards that I will also support with the following

incidents that has been reported within 2 years. Next, I will connect this to the age limit

and other rules for hoverboard use.

Lee, Greg. New CA Law Requires Age Limit, Other Rules for Hoverboard Use. ABC7.

KABC-TV. 29 Dec. 2015. Medium. 11 Apr. 2017.

This news article dialogs the transcript from the recent news story of Dec. 29, 2015,

where the popular hoverboards have a new California law that became effective in 2016

where it requires a certain age to ride one, with head protection and speed limit rules

(Lee). I found this article by using Google as my search engine and typed up hoverboard

laws. The first thing that pops up is this news link of how theres a New CA law

Since it is from a responsible broadcasting website, it is useful especially for statistics

and facts about todays society on hoverboards. I will cite this as one of my supporting

evidence and provide crucial details on why the new law has been passed, what to know

about the rules and so forth. After that, I will mention how our dream hoverboard is not

what it seems. The real hoverboard is the complete opposite of what we pictured from

movies and television series.

Mateo, Ivan "Today's 'Hoverboards' Incomparable to 'BTTF' 'Hoverboards'." UWIRE Text,

(2015): 1.

The written text of how Ivan Mateo talks about how our interpretation of a hoverboard is

not what we imagined it to be in comparison to the Back to The Future (BTTF)

hoverboard because it looks like a handle-less Segway. I found this argument from the

Google search engine, through accessing the CSUN Oviatt Library website. I looked up

hoverboards of today and found this piece after searching through my results. It has

already been peer-reviewed from a respected journal website called, Gale. So, knowing

that it was academically appropriate and credible, this is useful for my research paper. I

will cite Mateos exclamations of why our societys hoverboards are incomparable to

the BTTF: hoverboards, then I will connect it to how many situations that people have

been involved with this contraption where they get physically hurt by them.

Robinson, Tamar, Maneesha Agarwal, Sofia Chaudhary, Brian E Costello, and Harold K

Simon. "Pediatric Hoverboard Injuries." Clinical Pediatrics, 55.11 (2016): 1078-1080.

The expos of pediatric hoverboard injuries leads to safety regulations for the public to

be aware of the 2-wheel self-balancing electric scooter, which is also known as a

hoverboard. now hoverboards create new and unforeseen injury risks. injuries have

resulted from falls, collisions, some inhalation from fire, and finger entrapment

(Robinson). I found this report using the Google search engine, accessed through the

CSUN Oviatt Library. I searched for hoverboard injuries and found this view point

after looking thoroughly for my search results, and I did. It has been peer-reviewed from

a respected journal known as SAGE, so I knew it was both academic and reliable. This

will be a useful article for my paper because it provides evidence that hoverboards do

indeed have downfalls as a new transporting device that I will cite as I provide support

with the 2 cases that it gave out in the article. I will then tie everything together about

how hoverboards has really became re-innovated by engineers which was inspired by

80s film: Back to the Future and other Sci-Fi movies to cases of fires and injuries.
