Student Name: Brittany Patrick

Date: 4/9/2017

Artifact Description: Music In Me Word Processing.

What you learned: Ive always seen the songs repurposed by teachers and theyve always been
amusing, but I had never made one of my own. It was actually a bit hard to find a song that I thought
would work. Some of my favorite songs didnt have chords, which was a bummer. This helped me
narrow down options until I found something suitable, which is a skill required in this profession. I
also learned how to repurpose something for the art of teaching.

What you learned about your Multiple Intelligence results (include the scores from the
survey): I had never looked at Multiple Intelligences before so this was a rather interesting
experience. I had always considered there to be four types of learning but this presented a variety of
different concepts. Linguistics being my strong point didnt surprise me since I fancy writing and
reading. I was always the first one to jump on a writing experience. Its interesting to see musical
intelligence being my lowest aspect. While I would never consider myself a musician, I do like music
used in education. I made a few parodies in the past for projects, but they were all pretty
embarrassing. I think most of my teachers taught in a linguistic manner, as most of my teachers
taught through lecture. I always enjoyed when my teachers did physical assignments, though. As a
teacher, I plan to implement multiple intelligences into my assignments.
National Educational Technology Standards for Teachers (NETS)T Addressed: Standard #1:
Facilitate and inspire student learning and creativity. Standard #2: Design and develop digital age
learning experiences and assessments.

Application of Skills Learned for the Future: Id love to implement these skills in my classroom. I
think performing these parody songs in my classes would be embarrassing, but it would show kids
that I dont take myself seriously all the time. Ive always admired teachers who relate to the kids
instead of acting like theyre above them. I can also see giving this as a group project to students.
Itd be really interesting to see them repurpose a song and make a music video for it. Theres a lot of
things throughout history that can be sung about and Id like to see if my students can take on that
challenge.
