more than the young undocumented immigrants who were allowed relief from deportation
under President Barack Obamas 2012 executive order. Trump assured during his smash-

all those so-called dreamers who came out of the shades under Deferred Action for
Childhood Arrivals, or DACA.

order to protect recipients of President Obamas executive order known as Deferred Action

While the DREAM Act failed, the name stuck, and now the term DREAMers applies
generally to illegal aliens under the age of 35 seeking full or partial legalization / amnesty
and/or taxpayer subsidized tuition. It should be noted that a grant of DACA status does not
confer lawful immigration status, provide a path to citizenship, or alter an illegal aliens
existing immigration status. In April, 2014, it was discovered that Denver Public Schools is
working with the Teach for America program to use illegal aliens with Deferred Action for
Childhood Arrival status as teachers. Another category to which the term DREAMers
applies is those illegal aliens seeking or given in-state college tuition for illegal aliens.
Although the law is not actively enforced, giving in-state tuition to illegal aliens is a clear
violation of federal law.

More than 750,000 young unauthorized immigrants have received work permits and
deportation relief through the federal governments Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals
program since it was created by President Barack Obama, according to the latest data
released by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. It provides illegal immigrants who
came to the U.S. before age 16 a group sometimes called Dreamers a chance to stay in the
U.S. to study or work, provided they meet certain conditions such as being enrolled in high
school or having a high school degree or GED equivalent, and not having a serious criminal
conviction. About 1.1 million unauthorized immigrants are eligible for the benefits,
according to a 2014 Pew Research Center estimate, which means that about 78% of those
potentially eligible have applied to the program. If Trump opts to undo the executive action
that created DACA, the program could be immediately canceled as he promised during the
4

campaign or it may be phased out by not allowing immigrants to renew their benefits when
they expire after two years.

Synthesis:

Although these articles are examining the Individuals recipients from the Deferred Action
best known as DACA and also called Dreamers,. Most of the articles present information of
DACA recipients and who could be eligible. The articles analyze the big controversy with
the new elected president Donald Trump and the possible changes with the program
affecting thousands of undocumented immigrants. While some of the articles show either
Trumps Is trying to quiet down this program others said that, Trump promised during his
smash talking presidential run to wipe away the order with stroke of open, and with it the
dream of all those so called DREAMERS (Root,J, 2016). A newly reveled memo from
president elected Donald Trump transition team sheads light on his plans to reverse
immigration policies put in place by Obama administration and asks for DACA recipients
of Deferred Action for Childhood arrival (Democrecy,V2017). Trump said he may create a
way for these who have been benefited from DACA to stay in the U.S but he also made a
campaign promise to undo all executive actions taken by Obama (Krogstad, J.M, 2017).
Anyone requesting DACA must have been under the age of 31 as June 15, 2012, they must
be also at least 15 or older to request DACA unless they are currently in the removal
proccedings or either a final removal or voluntary departure order (USCIS, 2012). Those
who are between the ages of 15 and 30 who are either in highschool or already have
hihschool diploma could apply (American Council, 2016). You may request consideration
of deferred action for childhood arrvals if you were under the age of 31 as June,2012 or
came to the United States since June 15, 2007 up to the present (CAIRCO, 2017).
