    DearMembersoftheParoleBoard,

    I am writing this letter on behalf of family friend, Michael Duran (CDCR#D15784). I


    respectfully ask that you grant parole to Michael when he appears before you at his
    parole hearing. We have written letters of support to the board several times since the
    mid-1990sonhisbehalf.

    Through Michaels letters and communication with him by telephone,Ihavelearnedthat


    his faith in god has helped him maintain the right perspective for someonetobeableto
    move forward in a positive way. Thevictim,includingfriendsandfamilyaffectedbytheir
    loss, are always his prayers andtheprayersofhisfamily. Thisisthepathhehaschosen,
    and, I feel, it hasbeentheonlywayMichaelwouldallowhimselftocontinuetolearnnew
    things,mature,andultimatelyprepareforreintegrationwithsocietyinapositiveway.

    Michael is a good person who has found some solace through prayer, and that has
    helped keep his mind in a good place. I believe that he only wants the opportunity to
    show this to his family and society as a whole. If he is granted parole, his family is
    preparedtogivehimthesupportheneedstoensurethathedoesnotreturntoprison.

    There are also many others in our community, including myself, that remember Michael
    as a bright young man brimming with the potential to benefit others, that are actively
    pursuing employment and job training opportunities on his behalf. Thank you for your
    time.
