Work Experience

Company Name: Electronics Corporation of India Ltd.

About ECIL: Electronics Corporation of India Limited, a wholly owned Government of India
Enterprise was established in 1967 to create a strong indigenous base in Electronics. The Company is
organized into Strategic Business Units specializing in Control and Automation, Strategic
Electronics, Special Components/Products for Defense, Software & Consultancy. Major Projects /
Products are Special Nuclear Instrumentation and Detectors, Electronic Voting Machines, Full Scope
Replica Simulators for Nuclear & Thermal Power Plants, etc.

Current Designation : Technical Officer

Posting : Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (B.A.R.C.)
Division : Health Physics Section, Electronics Division

1. Project Name : “Pulse Generator” for Radiation Detectors.

Description : A low power hand-held battery operated Test Jig for Pulse
Generation and Measurement for/of Radiation Detectors.

My Contribution : Hardware: Design of the jig using Philips P89V51RD2+ 8-bit Flash
microcontroller. A 12-bit ADC interfaced via SPI (Serial Peripheral
Interface) bus to read the Battery strength.

Firmware: Developed the firmware to generate pulses from 1Hz to 100

KHz and read detector pulses (counts) for display on LCD. Reading
pulse counts from the Detector Units and displaying in the unit stored
in EEPROM (AT24C512).

2. Project Name : “SIMULATORS” for Radiation Detectors.

Description : It’s a Simulator unit to simulate the behavior of the Detector Unit.

My Contribution : Hardware: Design of Simulator using PIC18F4620 microcontroller. It

has two external counters 82C54 and high speed monostable
multivibrator and serial interface for program downloading and
debugging. Also interfaced is 512byte eeprom via I2C interface.

Firmware: Developed the firmware for generating pulses of 1usec

width. The system settings are stored in the EEPROM using the
keypad and the counts are displayed on the LCD.
3. Project Name : Web Based Monitoring & Control System of Relays.
Description : Consist two sections Monitor and Control. Control section controls the
relay operation and is indicated by led’s status. In the Monitoring
section operator see’s the current led status on his web browser.

My Contribution : Hardware: Jackrabbit RCM2200 TCP/IP Controller board.

Firmware: Developed the security feature by username and password

authentication which helps avoid unauthorized access of control
system. Upon successful login the operator interacts with the system
through CGI scripts on his browser system. The TCP/IP protocol was
used for communication and HTML programming used for user
interaction.

4. Project Name : Design of HTTP 1.1 based Web Server and Device Driver
Development for PCI 1050 Data Acquisition Card on VxWorks.

Description : The operator selects the DAC Channel Number and issues a get
command to read the data. The data read is displayed to the operator
through a Web browser interface.

My Contribution : Device Driver development using Tornado IDE for PCI based Data
Acquisition Card. The target server on the host loads the project to the
target-agent running on the target VxWorks system.

The system monitors and control data acquisition through interactive

user-friendly web browsers. Web pages are customizable, and provide
secure, password protected web access to devises. The channel read is
displayed on to the browser.

The development of the passive TCP/IP socket connection using the

HTTP version 1.1 transport protocol and HTML programming to
reply to the operator through Web browser.

Work Profile
1. Understanding and preparation of Functional Requirement Specifications.

2. Designing of microcontroller based system as per the requirements.

3. Schematic designing in Protel Circuit Design software and preparation of Bill of Materials.

4. Coordinating with PCB manufacturer providing relevant information such as assembly,

mechanical details etc.

5. Contacting vendors for procurement of components as per the BOM.

6. Testing and troubleshooting of PCB’s for any defects as per the Netlist.

7. Developing test firmware to test the functionality of the modules on board.

8. Developing Technical Documents, Test Procedures, and Test reports for the microcontroller
boards.
